The full trail is approximately 500 km and is maintained by 10 local GHTA clubs. To complete the challenge, hikers must complete the main trail of all ten sections:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pine Ridge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kawartha<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Orillia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Barrie<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mad River<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wasaga Beach<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Midland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oro-Medonte<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tiny<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wilderness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each section must be completed as it existed on the day of the hike.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ganaraska-hiking-trail.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/End-to-End-Award.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:369px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Official Trail Definition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The official route for each section includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>trail reroutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>trail extensions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The official route excludes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>trail closures identified on the GHTA website at the time of the hike.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hikers are encouraged to review the GHTA website before each hike to confirm current trail conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wilderness Section (E2E Requirement)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wilderness Section has two options for completing the End-to-End requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Option 1 \u2014 Complete the Main White Trail (The Crossover)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Total Distance:<\/strong> approximately 57 km<br>This route follows the main White Trail from Moore Falls at the eastern end of the section to Sadowa at the western end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Route Segments:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Moore Falls \u2192 Petticoat Junction<br><em>(via Scrabble Mountain): 12 km<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Petticoat Junction \u2192 Victoria Bridge<br><em>(via the northeast arm of the Montgomery Creek Loop \u2013 Wilderness Crossover): 28 km<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Victoria Bridge \u2192 Sadowa<br><em>(via Black River Road and Chisholm Trail): 17 km<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The first and third segments may be completed as separate day hikes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The first segment can be completed by hiking from Moore Falls to Petticoat Junction, then following the Blue Side Trail to the Devil\u2019s Lake trailhead.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A car shuttle may be used to return to Moore Falls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Because the third segment follows country roads, hikers may choose to arrange a car shuttle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The second segment \u2014 the legendary Wilderness Crossover \u2014 normally requires at least one night of camping. While some hikers have completed the crossover in a single day, this is not recommended.<br><br>Hikers who began their End-to-End challenge under the previous Wilderness requirement may still complete their challenge using that definition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Option 2 \u2014 Equivalent Distance (No Crossover Required)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To simplify the standard and align with other GHTA sections, hikers may complete an equivalent distance using four separate hikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Route<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Moore Falls \u2192 Black Creek Junction \u2192 Moore Falls: 11 km<br><em>(5.5 km each way)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sheldon Lake Circuit: 19 km<br><em>(Start and finish at Devil\u2019s Lake Trailhead)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ragged Rapids Loop: 16 km<br><em>(Includes Victoria Bridge to the start of the loop)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Victoria Bridge \u2192 Sadowa: 17 km<br><em>(via Black River Road and Chisholm Trail)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">Hiking Log Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">All End-to-End hikers must keep a hiking log recording the date each section was completed.<br>Copies of completed hiking logs must be submitted to the Ganaraska Hiking Trail Badge Officer once the End-to-End challenge has been completed. An <a href=\"https:\/\/ganaraska-hiking-trail.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Ganaraska-E2E-sample-log.pdf\">example hiking log<\/a> and blank log sheets are available on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">Planning Your Hike<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Before hiking, participants should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review the GHTA website for trail updates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check for trail reroutes or closures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm parking restrictions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If hikers have questions about a section of trail, they may contact the President of the local GHTA club responsible for that section.
